Couples Counseling And Relationship Counselling
This is really a short post on Couples Counselling. We will start by distinguishing Couples Counselling from Relationship Guidance. Relationship Guidance consists of an impartial mediator assisting the events of the relationship to recognize and refrain from repeating behavioral designs that tend to trigger tension in the relationship.
As soon as the designs are identified, the areas of stress giving rise to the ill conceived coping patterns are addressed. New strategies that assist the parties in alternative management methods for identified stress areas are developed. Couples can enter into Relationship Counseling, as can families, company events, neighbors or any group that has an ongoing relationship.
Couples Counseling has superficial similarities to Relationship Counseling, but the depth of Couples Counseling compared to Relationship Counseling is greatest appreciated by comparing the time commitments involved. Couples Counseling, is seldom begun without a dedication to some three month minimum, or 13 sessions; some therapist insist on a 6 month dedication. As soon as in therapy, some couples stay so for years. Relationship Guidance on the other hand can show appreciable results in a single session and rarely continues for more than a number of sessions.
